Questions about official Knott County criminal records belong with the agency that keeps the source file. This private resource cannot retrieve, change, or certify a record. The routes below distinguish sheriff reports from court files, state criminal histories, corrections information, and registry records so a request reaches the right government office.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately run resource cannot obtain criminal records, perform an official background check, correct or remove a record, or receive an expungement filing. Contact the responsible government office for those services.

Need an Official Record?

Use the record type to choose the official Knott County or Kentucky custodian:

  • Court case files: review the Knott County court case lookup or call the Circuit Court Clerk at 606-785-5021 for District and Circuit Court dockets, orders, and dispositions
  • Criminal histories: use the Kentucky State Police background check channel for the Criminal Identification and Records Branch paper name-based request or personal review process
  • Statewide court reports: use the Kentucky Court of Justice AOC report menu for FastCheck or One-Time Request, which is separate from the official local case file
  • Arrest and booking material: ask the Knott County Sheriff's Office whether it created and still holds the specific record and where a person is currently booked or housed
  • Corrections information: use Kentucky Online Offender Lookup for Kentucky Department of Corrections custody or supervision, not a fresh local jail booking
  • Registry information: search the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry and direct unresolved status questions to KSP or the local registering law enforcement agency
  • Police incident reports: request the record from the sheriff, KSP Post 13, or city police agency that created it

The documented local law enforcement starting point is the Knott County Sheriff's Office, 54 W. Main Street, Hindman, KY 41822, 606-785-5354, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No separately named records division, public records portal, or official online jail roster was confirmed. Call first to identify the custodian, current booking location, availability, redactions, and fee. A formal Kentucky Open Records Act request may be delivered by hand, mail, fax, or email to the designated custodian.

For filed court records, contact the Knott Circuit Court Clerk, 53 W. Main Street, Hindman, KY 41822, 606-785-5021, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clerk maintains both Knott District and Circuit Court files and receives a qualifying Kentucky expungement filing for a case heard there. An AOC administrative records request does not replace a request to the clerk for a local case file.
